  1. Rocking Flash Sites Posted in Cookin' Design, Concocted by Fred Roed October 31, 2007 No comments

Flash is a bit of a flashpoint in the web industry. There are those that believe that it should be done away with altogether, and those that advocate it over everything else. Sort of like religion, it engenders extreme
views and not much in between. Read Further

  5. Understanding behaviour Posted in Recipes for Success, Concocted by Mike Perk October 22, 2007 3 comments

I’ve been working quite a bit with the Omniture web analytics tool lately and although it is very very powerful, I also find it extremely frustrating at times. I’m sure this can be said of any tool you feel that you don’t know 100%. You always compare it to what you know best and my comfort zone lies with Google Analytics. But I know other analysts who swear by Click Track, Omniture and even Stats-Counter, purely because they feel comfortable with it. So should one step out of their comfort zone? Read Further

  6. “Its all about me” Posted in Recipes for Success, Concocted by Mike Perk October 19, 2007 No comments

Those that work with me know I am a big disciple of the Eisenberg brothers {http://www.futurenowinc.com/bios.htm}. When it comes to conversions on websites these guys rock. Anyways, this morning I came across a great little free tool that had me addicted for hours. So simple, yet pure genius. It is called the “We We Monitor” and it checks out how customer focused a particular page on your site is: Read Further

  7. I struggle with wikis Posted in There's a Fly in My Soup, Concocted by Mike Perk October 10, 2007 2 comments

Don’t get me wrong, I can use a wiki quite competently, its just I don’t like using them. Its something about their style (or lack of it). I still don’t believe I’ve seen a great looking wiki in my time. I know I’m missing the point – a wiki is about collaborating and sharing ideas. But think about it, when you do that in the real world you do it in a nice environment. When we want to share ideas we don’t lock ourselves away in cupboards, we meet in places that inspire our thinking. Read Further

  9. SEO quiz Posted in Recipes for Success, Concocted by Mike Perk October 8, 2007 No comments

I landed on the seomoz.org site at the weekend only to see the words “quiz” in a big banner across the screen. Seeing as I had three proposals to write I didn’t need much of an excuse to procrastinate and do something else.

  10. Can you Blog too much? Posted in Recipes for Success, Concocted by Mike Perk October 3, 2007 4 comments

It occurred to me whilst clearing out my Google Reader from the past few days that blogs  containing over 20 new posts I skipped, and pressed the "mark all as read" button.

It is strange because I usually read these blogs and find them more useful than some blogs that I actually read this morning. All blogs that had a couple of posts I took the time to scan over the content.

Thinking back, a couple of months ago I signed up to a blog after reading a good post, now due to the increased posting (102 in a week) I never read them, maybe because I am subconsciously fed up with the vast amount that come in everyday. Once again I am confused with my methods because I read blogs that are less of an interest to me, but read them because they post 1 a day or every 2 days.

So, is there such as thing as blogging to much?

I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on this, especially if your actions are the same as mine.

  11. Cross-browser compatibility Posted in Cookin' Design, Concocted by Fred Roed October 2, 2007 1 comment

As a web marketing company, World Wide Creative focuses a lot on the actual design and usability of the websites we’re marketing. One of our biggest headaches is cross-browser compatibility – arrgh. This means making the dammmm thing work in Internet Explorer 6 and 7, as well as Firefox (our browser of choice – download it here) and all the rest. Read Further
