    With an average of 25 hours a week spent on digital media, it may be time for to Brazil embrace the world of digital content. Sao Paolo hosted the second annual ‘International Digital Book Conference’ this week which attracted over 300 participants from around the country. Edward Nawotka from Publishing Perspectives explained how the Brazilian government will begin purchasing “digital content” in 2014, which called for ‘Brazil’s publishing industry to discuss the opportunities and pitfalls of digital’.

This article, with the help of an infographic by MyCube, provides an interesting look at how much ones user-generated information is worth. Facebook and YouTube, in particular, use information that you, the user, generates to make a revenue. 

    This is how the whole process works: You the consumer using the social networking sites generate content as part of the site experience, then those sites provide information to the marketers. In this sense the sites are just being in the middle between you and the marketers. And this is a one way relationship; you don’t get a share of the money.
