3 Rules for Building Better Community Posted in Social Media, Concocted by LouisJvR,

Thanks to Barry from The World of We for this post on tips to build a better online community:

  1. Take the call – make sure your community members know you are accessible and that they are being listened to.
  2. Explain the incentives and benefits – In order to make any request for call to action, make sure your community members understand how they will benefit from their participation.
  3. Give to get – give, give, give… and give some more, later you wil receive. This will lead to sustainable engagement with your customers and consequently increase loyalty (btw also take a peak at this website that talks about the Strategy of Giving)

Two things that are clear in going through these 3 rules is that 1. people are attracted to authenticity and 2. people are incentive focused….

and, FYI, YOU giving them honesty is not an incentive… nice try though ;)
