For those who don’t know, QQ is the Chinese version of mobile based IM services like Mxit, and is part-owned by South African publishing and digital giant, Naspers. Little known outside of China, the service has been called the biggest social media forum on the planet with over 300 million accounts. According to Marketing Vox, QQ turned almost 4 times more money than Facebook with over $500m in 2007. Not a bad investment for Naspers, and just a taste of the mobile revolution that’s currently impacting on marketing communications.
