Last night we welcomed the dark side with the Professor of Digital, Meneer David Duarte at Heavy Chef. As the first event in Cape Town for over a year, the night kicked off at World Wide Creative’s gleaming new building in Sir Lowry Road Woodstock.

Daring to go where your average digital marketer would never go, Dave asked some pivotal questions about social sharing. Marketers were asked to consider the impact that sharing links via email and instant messaging services has on their site referrals. After all, effective digital marketing is about measuring the metrics that matter.
Gone are the days when hits and clicks were the benchmarks for online success – today, engagement is the golden ratio. With no shortage of cheeky innuendos, Dave shared his insight that, “the most intimate sharing happens in the dark.” His advice? Get comfortable with what you can’t measure and “keep it real.”
World Wide Creative will be releasing the official speaker video soon, so if you didn’t get onto the guest list in time, watch this space for Dave’s presentation.
Here’s what Heavy Chef guests had to tweet about the event:

As always, Heavy Chef guests enjoyed complementary red and white wine sponsored by Backsberg and one lucky guest won a Lumia 1320 and cover sponsored by Nokia South Africa. We’d also like to thank Channel Mobile for their bulk-SMS service.
