Book cover design

In the web design arena, we can sometimes get too restricted by the parameters of our media. I’ve always been a fan of book cover design. It’s something we did back in college, and it was always a fun, and challenging, project. Check out this collection put together by Vitaly and crew at Smashing Magazine.  Great inspiration for web designers, to think a little differently. Below are two of my favourites…

So True Fred, there is definitely a great need for web designers to be mroe conceptual in our application of design for the web. Sometimes for this reason it helps doing design for websites being outsourced by ad agencies which allow for more brand focussed work. I find it’s so easy to get stuck into the pattern of starting with a bunch of boxes and buttons and working them into shape.

Love what you guys are doing here!

Thanks for the complement. Nomad, much appreciated.

We were talking about it in the studio today, Weird how, when digital media has such a staggering array of options for the designer, it can become so tempting to stick to a simple grid, pile the content in and forget about concept.

got something to say?
