Facebook release new simplified look Posted in Social Media, Concocted by Fred Roed, 2 comments

Facebook

This just in: Facebook have released news of the new incarnation of their familiar duotone web layout.

It looks like they’re trying to dumb things down a bit, with less clutter… and therefore sightly less distraction from advertising space.

Better usability is always a good thing. As my Danish forebears say ‘Form Follows Function’, but the jury’s out on this. Personally I like simple layouts.

this is great news. can’t wait for the new look. i’m all for dumbed down. i think geeks often forget they don’t code for geeks, but for other people, and the same can be said for designers.

Agreed, Jansie – that balance is something that we as web developers continually have to remind ourselves of.
