Many of you already have your own blogs running on the open source, read “free”, platform WordPress, currently the best choice for a blog application. WordPress offers a rich set of blog features and has a massive supporting community. This usually means that software is well maintained and won’t disappear or run dry a few months down the line. If you are interested in finding out more about WordPress and its benefits, please contact the chefs.Wordpress.org
WordPress has come a long way since its inception and currently sits at version 2.5. It brings a lot of power to the non-technical users who are more interested in getting their blogs/websites to work rather than stressing about the technicalities. The large contributing community out there have written some really awesome plugins that allow you to extend your blogging experience, as well as enhance your blog to do just about anything. A very wild statement I know, but the chefs here at Heavy Chef are hard at work putting that theory to the test. We have transformed some of our client’s WordPress installations into Document Management systems, Content Managed Websites, Online Photography Portfolios and Staff Intranet Systems.

As you can see there is a lot on offer from the open source application and it seems like things are only getting better.

If you are interested in finding out more, or if you already have a piece of WordPress goodness online, then stay tuned for next Friday’s article. I will dig a little deeper under the hood of WordPress and show you how it works… and just how easy it is to maintain your blog/website/intranet/gallery.
