With so much hype flying around the Augmented Reality space at the moment, it is important to pull away the smoke and mirrors and get to the core truth. Is this really a useful tool or just a flash in the pan creative technology with no real practical application?

At our Heavy Chef event in Johannesburg this month, Rich Mulholland explored this question, putting himself in the firing line. With objects flying out of his computer, he bought us down to earth and got everyone thinking about how we can push this technology so it becomes more utilitarian.
The event was spectacularly hosted by Deloitte. The session was attended by around 120 entrepreneurs, captains of industry, marketers and bloggers – all of whom reveled in the generous supply of stimulating conversation, networking, interaction, and of course, ice-cold Coronas and Delheim.
