Our Heavy Chef session last night at Deloitte in Cape Town was once again a successful event. With a turn-out of close to 200 people we were very happy to see such a strong response to the event on Twitter.
Special thanks to our speaker, Nikki Cockcroft who spoke about new media ecosystems and how the customer is the centre of the new eco-system.
A big thanks to our new sponsors andUnion and Liqui Fruit. We were happy to see the Heavy Chef crowd raving about them online. Furthermore, we’d like to thank our wine sponsor, Backsberg, for organising a bottle of bubbly for Nikki at the event.
With the amount of traffic regarding our event on Twitter, we were thrilled to see @HeavyChef trending on Twitter the day before the event and #NokiaRSA once again trending during Nikki’s talk.
Congratulations to Amy Toerien who won the Nokia E7 for the best tweet of the night. Here are only a few of the tweets that came through last night:
@HeavyChef: @nikkicockcroft “what is a publisher?” The definition is changing. Brands are becoming publisher for example @WOOLWORTHS_SA
@Martinslabbert: @andUnion and @heavychef – a match made in a happy place #cheesysmile

@Tyronevh: Multi-platform publishing revenue depends on quality and genre of content, right consumers, over right platform #HeavyChef #nokiarsa
@Ms_Amyt: Love the heart! Digital has made it possible to be in a relationship with whom ever you want. Even if it is a little stalkerish #nokiarsa

We’ll be posting Nikki’s presentation first thing next week as well as uploading the video of the event. Also, you can find photos of the event later today on our Heavy Chef Facebook page.
If you missed out on this event, become a Heavy Chef and be the first to receive invites to all our event in Cape Town and Joburg.

The Cockroft video is really quite informative but the jump cut editing undermines the piece and the speaker and irritates the viewer. Just because this is the web doesn’t mean we can throw away professional video production values?
