Last week’s Heavy Chef Session (monthly workshop for World Wide Creative clients) was a kickass presentation. We had the e-commerce kings, Shane and Andrew from Yuppiechef.co.za deliver a rousing analysis on the state of affairs of e-commerce in South Africa.
Some of the highlights:
- E-commerce is here (in South Africa) to stay
- It’s not if your customer will expect to pay for things online, it’s when!
- Find a niche and own it
- There’s HUGE opportunity for e-commerce for South African businesses
- E-commerce, while fun, is hard work and not for the faint-hearted
- E-commerce is 100% safe for the user
- E-commerce poses danger (in the shape of credit card fraud) for the vendor
- There’s a LOT of education to be done in SA for the consumer to be accepting of e-commerce (which is why Shane and Andrew are hitting the road to talk to people about the subject)
Here are some pics from the session. Thanks for all those who attended, it was great to have such an inspired audience – and a HUGE thanks to Frank Meijer*, one of the top chefs in Europe, who catered with possibly some of the most taste-bud tantalising cakes we’ve ever sampled.
we had some great companies at the session, including:
- VladimirTretchikoff.com (Andrew and Natasha)
- The Last Word Boutique Hotel Group (Dougie, Nicky and Rob)
- HEP (Bruce Wade)
- AV Direct (Rowan)
- Masterweb (Fritz)
- ShopDirect.co.za (James)
- Cape Nature (Jackie)
- CherryFlava (Jon Cherry)
- Missing Link (Heinrich)
- Design Zero 3 (Chris)

*Frank is a client of ours – we’ve helped him and his wife Anne-Marelle with their brand identity for their new company launching in South Africa called Creme & Cacao. Check out their logo designed by our team (below), and then click onto their new website (designed by a Netherlands company) here. If you ever need any specialised catering done, or want to buy something extraordinary for that anniversary celebration, look no further than Frank and his exquisite talent…

…and here’s Shane the Maven about to tuck in!
