How do you gain influence on Twitter? Posted in Twitter, Concocted by Jason Bagley, 3 comments

This is very much a follow up to the post I wrote last week about getting your first Twitter follower. How do you gain influence on Twitter? In other words, how do you get others to almost look up to you and listen? Not everyone is influential so trying to become influential on Twitter, or any Social Media platform for that matter, might not necessarily work for you! That being said, everyone can definitely increase their number of followers and gain respect and possibly influence on Twitter.

Super Twitter

It comes down to 3 things. Being helpful, sharing and caring.

As I mentioned in my previous post, being yourself is definitely a surefire way to gain Twitter followers. Be honest, raise your opinion, respect others and help where you can all goes a long way in the real world and online!

Try this: Go look at the last 15-20 tweets in your stream. Find the tweets where people are asking a question of some sort. If you have no clue what they are on about, skip and find one where you possibly could help. Use Google to find a link or 2 that will help that person and reply to them and say, “Hey, these articles might just be what you looking for. <link>, <link>. Shout if need any more help!”. You know what you have just done other than helping a lazy person? You have built some influence. It really is that simple.

Rinse and repeat this technique, as well as carry on tweeting, raising opinions, sharing interesting links and also respecting others. These will all go a long way to gaining followers and influence on Twitter!

Jason, you make it sound so easy. I’ll let you know if it works. Or rather, I’ll let you know if it doesn’t.
I’d like to read what you (and others) say about how having/not having influence offline relates to online influence.

Nice little post this. By the way, your @JBagley twitter link is broken, you have a “n” instead of “m” in the .com :)
