Review: Heavy Chef Session on Youth Marketing Posted in Heavy Chef News, Videos, Concocted by Yolandi Janse van Rensburg,

At the Heavy Chef Session last Wednesday in Jozi we took a peek into the world of Youth Marketing with Andrea Kraushaar from Youth Dynamix and Marc Kornberger from Student Village. With a turn out of more than 50 guests, we sure enjoyed seeing all the new faces including people from Deloitte, Quirk eMarketing, FNB, ABSA and the South African National Blood Service. It was also great seeing some familiar faces like Greg Durst from Horizon Equity. Most of the socializing took place on the Balcony at JWT with its beautiful view over Rivonia and great drinks provided by our sponsors Corona, Carlsberg, Perderberg wine and (our latest edition) Glaceau Vitamin Water. Thanks guys.

Heavy Chef Youth Session

We enjoyed seeing all the new faces

Andrea started off the evening with an Introduction on Youth Marketing with a great response from our guests to some of the statistics she provided. Andrea commented on the youth’s dependence on wanting to be connected saying that “if they (youth) could surgically attach their cell phones to their limbs, they would”. Some interesting concepts Andrea touched on was “uber-generation”, “love brands” and the “me-centric generation”.

What Andrea suggested was to give the youth a platform to contribute and voice their opinion. By giving them options or opportunities to comment you would create a two-way dialogue. As Andrea puts it “they have far too many choices available to them” so, it’s all about standing out.

Next up was Marc from Student Village. Marc provided us with a presentation on “Your top 10 questions on digital”. Interestingly, our crowd had quite a few remarks and questions regarding mobile marketing, WAP and SMS since these fields are still being explored.

Our latest sponsor Glaceau Vitamin Water was very popular

Thanks to our speakers, Andrea and Marc– you guys were great. So, at the end of the day we really enjoyed the interactivity of our guests and happy that everyone benefited from our bit-size chunks of information on digital marketing.

Heads up guys! Our next Heavy Chef Session in Jozi will be 5th October with Vinny Lingham on “Raising Capital for New Media Start Ups”. Invites will be sent soon.
