Telkom Business Offers SMEs A Chance To Win A Makeover Posted in Heavy Chef News, Concocted by Wendy Tayler, 3 comments
Published on 1 February 2013

The small and medium enterprise sector is one of the largest creators of jobs within the South African economy. This will play an important role in reaching the goal of 5 million new jobs by 2020.

TELKOM Telkom wants to help out by supplying the sector with next generation technology. So in support of SMEs, Telkom Business is running a competition with prizes valued at R750,000. Telkom’s aim is to create a lasting partnership with small and medium size organisations.

The competition is targeted at SMEs who have big dreams for their business in 2013, which is why Telkom will give away five prizes valued at R150,000 each to five lucky business winners. To win, businesses simply need to sign up, upgrade, or renew their calling plan (BizTalk) or Internet Package (TBiz) before 15 February 2013.

This process ensures an automatic entry to win the prize, which is an ICT and Business makeover from a business coach. The winning businesses will be coached on how best to utilize the prize. Prizes will include ICT equipment such as laptops, phones, tablets and much more. Other items on the list include website design software, and even office furniture.

Telkom’s Managing Executive, Thami Magazi, who is responsible for Small & Medium Business Services within the Enterprise Markets division says, “Telkom Business is paying closer attention to the ever-growing SME market. We even have a website specifically designed for this sector in mind. It showcases a range of compelling telecommunication products and services that are specifically designed to meet business needs. This competition was designed with the objective of reaching out to them and when it came to selecting a prize, a makeover from a business coach was the obvious choice. The five winners will be able to propel their businesses forward in leaps and bounds.”

To enter, call 10217 or for more information, visit the website here. You can also visit your nearest Telkom Direct Store to take up one of their packages.

That is all very nice, but I believe that once again there is no real commitment to entrepreneurs, it is simply lip-service. I support my argument with a copy of an SMS I got from Telkom after applying for a business line at the end of October 2012. The reply came in January 2013:
Dear The Deli Llama, TELKOM HAS TO PROVIDE NEW INFRASTRUCTURE TO YOUR AREA. YOUR REQUEST HAS BEEN LISTED BUT IS CURRENTLY OUTSIDE OUR BUILD PROGRAM FOR THIS FINANCIAL YEAR Please contact 10217 should you require additional information. Regards, Telkom Business

Hi Nelly, this is strange, the links work on our side. It may be the browser you are using. The competition closes today, hope you were able to access it in time.
