Heavy Chef today announced a new series of events and masterclasses focusing on implementing social media advertising for business. Over the next few months, the Heavy Chef platform, which provides learning experiences for entrepreneurs will be offering evening events with experienced professionals revealing the strategic insights and technical wizardry required to build an essential and impactive social strategy for business.
February’s focus is naturally on Facebook, the largest of all the social platforms. With over 2 billion users, Facebook provides entrepreneurs, business owners and managers with an extraordinary launchpad to boost their businesses. Providing simple tools to get cracking with attracting a targeted customer profile, Facebook is one of the most incisive and effective ways of enticing and retaining new customers.
In March and April, Heavy Chef will turn its focus to Instagram, which recently sailed past 1 billion users and, with its focused, highly-visual appeal, offers the most engagement out of the social platforms.
“We’re incredibly excited about this series,” says Heavy Chef CEO Fred Roed in a statement today. “As Heavy Chef has grown rapidly over the past two years, we’ve seen a real need for practical ways for business owners and business managers in our community to immediately target new customers in a highly targeted, impactive way. The big social platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram, allow us to do this.”
“We’re doing something interesting for the Facebook Masterclasses,” explains Roed. “We’re not selling tickets, rather we’re allowing for entrepreneurs, business owners, team leaders, marketers and managers to apply for tickets. Seats are usually costed at R1480 per ticket, but we’ve allocated 50 free tickets in Johannesburg and 50 free tickets in Cape Town to appropriate participants.”

Heavy Chef has secured top-level speakers from both Facebook and the business sector to present the strategic lessons and learnings to audiences over the next few months.
Noha Bashir is the Training Lead for Facebook in the EMEA region and will be speaking at the first two evening events, designed to provide an introduction to Facebook campaigns. Then Junaid Basera and Meggan Kristiansen, two senior paid social specialists from 2U Getsmarter, the continent’s biggest spender of advertising budget on Facebook advertising, will share some of the lessons they’ve learned campaigning for one of the fastest growing education companies in the world.
Then, for the Masterclasses, Michèle Ngueyep is a senior Client Solution Manager for Facebook Africa. Prior to her role at Facebook she was a Performance Digital Marketing Expert at Schibsted, a Norwegian classified group where she was in charge of defining the digital growth strategy for eight of their group brands.
“We’re incredibly fortunate to have Ngueyep and Bashir in the country in February for the events and Masterclasses,” says Roed. “This is an exciting opportunity for businesses to get top level insight into building their social campaign.”
“We will announce our Instagram facilitators shortly - we have more exciting announcements coming up. After Instagram, we will turn our lens upon WhatsApp, which is the biggest messaging service in the world,” says Louis Janse van Rensburg, Chairman of the Heavy Chef Foundation, which oversees research, curriculum design and enrollment of emerging entrepreneurs.
