If you’re wondering how to get the ideal Facebook paid social campaign strategy for your business, it’s as simple as coming to a Heavy Chef session. Last week we managed to squeeze two Senior Paid Social Specialists and the Head of Training Facebook in two rooms, in separate cities (JHB and CPT) - VOILA! You’re well on your way to getting a glimpse of how to introduce innovative and successful paid social strategies, for your business. Here are some videos to whet your appetite for more Heavy Chef goodness.
Last week, we announced a brand new series focusing on how paid social campaigns act as a catalyst for growth, for start-up and existing business. The Workshop17 venues in Johannesburg and Cape Town were both jam-packed with eager individuals wanting to learn all about using Facebook for business.
In Johannesburg, we kicked off with Noha Bashir, Head of Training at Facebook EMEA. We were extremely fortunate to get Noha on stage in between her globe-trotting exploits teaching the biggest corporations around the world how to boost their businesses via the blue machine. Noha also spoke in Cape Town, to a sold out event at Workshop17 in the Waterfront.
Noha’s wit and sense of humour made it easy for our future-focused leaders to relate to her talk about ‘Future proofing your business’. It was a great honour hearing from an aficionado who represents a tech - company that has more than 2 million active advertisers on Facebook, with over 700 million users visit Facebook on mobile each day.
Following Noha in JHB were two representatives from Pineapple, one of the most exciting startups in South Africa right now. Marnus van Heerden and Yashoda Ram shared the stage to tell the story of how they achieved 10,000 new users in 6 months - primarily obtained via an aggressive, yet fun and creative paid social campaign.
Our speakers were experts who have been in the digital industry for several years. Senior Paid Social Specialists, Junaid Sabera and Meggan Kristiannsen from 2U, (formerly known as Getsmarter) transported us into their daily world of developing efficient ways of using social media to attract and retain clients.
Facebook paid campaigns have played an integral part of 2U’s growth, making the business one of the biggest and fastest growing spenders of advertising on Facebook.
Junaid Sabera is Meggan’s colleague at 2U, and he strode a confident path to the stage where he shared some of his biggest learnings while working on the 2U account. The company is Facebook’s biggest spender of advertising in Africa, and Junaid proceeded to reveal some of the tips and tricks they’ve uncovered while growing the global 2U juggernaut.
You thought that was all? Not a chance! This week we hosted our Facebook for Business 101 Masterclass events with senior representative from Facebook central: Michèle Ngueyep. The events took place on 26 February in Jozi and 27 February in Cape Town. We hope those that attended got more than their money’s worth because the Masterclasses were absolutely FREE, MAHALA! - thanks to the generousity of Facebook Global who bought a ton of tickets to give away.
A big shout out to our partners for the events and masterclasses: Workshop 17, Backsberg Wines, YOCO, Vida Café, Taxify, Payfast, Cue AV, Sir Fruit, Xero, Whipping the Cat and Now Boarding. None of this would be possible without you! So we’ll see you at our next event?
