We’re an eccentric and wonderful bunch at Heavy Chef. Our new Content Manager, Ondela Mlandu, is no exception to the rule (although the jury is out as to whether she’s as eccentric as I am). Ondela used to work in the magazine trade and brings a rich heritage of writing and content creation to the Heavy Chef team.
In order to get to know Ondela, we asked a few questions to get to know her better.
Who is your favourite entrepreneur?
Definitely Arianna Huffington. She is the cofounder and former editor-in-chief of the successful news website HuffPost (previously the Huffington Post). Other than being an incredible media mogul, Ariana is big on wellness and the core of her writing and talks is based on improving people’s overall wellbeing. If all entrepreneurs and management could incorporate wellness in business, there would be more productivity in corporate spaces.
Where is the most interesting place you've been to?
Amsterdam! It's an infused hub of business and culture. There are expats from all over the world, its a melting pot of goodness! Other than the effortless and efficient mode of transports, Amsterdam is a futuristic city.
Which leaders do you admire?
I'm constantly discovering new leaders and I'm inspired by so many leaders stories, both dead and alive. If I had to narrow it down to a couple, I would say Winnie Madikizela Mandela for her tenacity and strong character, Martin Luther King for his faith, Barrack Obama for confidence and wisdom. I'd also add Fred Roed in there too, the man is a jack of all trades.
What's the most embarrassing situation you've been in?
I've had plenty to be honest but the mildest one of all is falling off the treadmill during peak hour at the gym. Just thinking about that time made me cringe.
I often listen to Oprah Super Soul Conversations. She profiles some of the best leaders and heroes (some even unknown) and shares their stories in the most incredible ways. Another podcast is Analysis from BBC Radio. They deliver podcasts on interesting issues on topics across the spectrum of politics, science and economics.
Ondela, welcome to Heavy Chef! May your journey with this team be a long and prosperous one, filled with many rich learning experiences.
