A jam-packed day of talks, presentations and performances, Heavy Chef Raw: The Business of Being Creative was an exciting first in a collaborative series between Heavy Chef and Ghetto Sessions.
Inspirational Springbok Captain Siya Kolisi visited one of Heavy Chef's most entrepreneurial community members, Sikelela Dibela, at his vibrant coffee shop in the heart of Khayelitsha. Siki's makes one of the best brews in the Western Cape, and his shop is constantly filled with local entrepreneurs, artisans and creatives who love the combination of wifi and silky smooth cappuccinos. Mandisi Sindo also known as Dr. Disi is a South African theatre practitioner, activist, alternative art spaces innovator, actor and presenter. Sbusiso Leope is an extraordinary South African entrepreneur. DJ Sbu, as he's more commonly known in South Africa, was the first speaker to speak on a Heavy Chef stage outside the main centres of SA. Sbu gave a fired-up performance in Khayelitsha, regaling a packed crowd of passionate entrepreneurs with stories of how he started hustling selling sweets while his friends were playing and how he made seemingly ludicrous gambles in his celebrity career.
