On The Menu
Every year the Foundation consults with its trustees, partners and members to identify activities that will make the biggest short- and long-term impact to accelerate access to learning for disconnected entrepreneurs in South Africa.
THE STATE OF ENTREPRENEUR EDUCATION
ANNUAL RESEARCH SURVEY
The Heavy Chef Foundation in partnership with Yoco is launching the first and most comprehensive research study into the learning habits of entrepreneurs in South Africa. The study interviewed 2,000 entrepreneurs from townships, CBDs and economic hubs from across the country to assess the people, places and methods that contributed most to their development as entrepreneurs.
In-field. Report available Aug 2019.
ALWAYS-ON BITE-SIZED LEARNING
The Foundation has identified hundreds of young entrepreneurs from South Africa’s largest informal settlement, Khayelitsha and provided them with an ‘all-you-can-eat’ pass to the Heavy Chef education platform. This will give these bright, talented change-makers with year-round access to all learning experiences offered by Heavy Chef including 1,000’s of hours of learning content on topics of technology, leadership and creativity.
HEAVY CHEF GUIDES
PRACTICAL HANDS-ON KNOWLEDGE
Heavy Chef in partnership with Xero is publishing a series of Heavy Chef Guides on starting and growing a business in South Africa. With the help of our donors, the Heavy Chef Foundation is distributing these books to entrepreneurs in townships across the country.
CELEBRATING LOCAL STARTUPS
Every year the Heavy Chef Foundation partners with local government and grassroots entrepreneur organisations to convene regional Startup Weeks in Cape Town and Johannesburg. SUW offers a week long calendar of inspiration and learning to entrepreneurs from each region and celebrates them at the Top 5 Startups Awards.
Got your interest didn't we! But none of this would be possible without support from you. If there’s an appetite to partner with us on any of our activities this year, please do get in touch.
