R145. Cape Town. Pierre du Plessis. Jacques Oberholzer. Human Writ.es and Heavy Chef proudly bring this new event to Cape Town, focusing on creating the ultimate mobile application. In a heady, creative digital age, millions of apps are being introduced every year and only a handful of them succeed. Despite these odds, there are some tried and tested mechanisms that ensure a much higher chance of success. We have invited Jacques Oberholzer, co-founder of international UI / UX design agency Now Boarding, and Pierre du Plessis, CEO of HumanWrit.es to unpack this vital topic.
R1480. Cape Town. Jacques Oberholzer. (Includes Free Notebook.) It’s about your MVP baby. Your minimum viable product. The first step of the marathon. It’s also the start of that hockey stick. You don’t want to mess that shizz up, believe us. To get it right, HumanWrit.es and Heavy Chef has invited one of our proudest exports, Jacques Oberholzer, to come in and lift the lid on how to make that first iteration of your world-beating product something truly special.

R145. Cape Town. Ryan Stramrood. Conn Bertish. We have invited two individuals who exemplify the very essence of the word “Grit” - Ryan Stramrood and Conn Bertish. Ryan Stramrood is a globally-renowned ice swimmer that has braved the world's most challenging waters. Conn Bertish is a cancer survivor with a story that has gripped the world’s attention. Ryan and Conn are going to stand on the Heavy Chef stage in November and share their stories - inspiring the rest of us that we can push past impossible and, using grit and creative thinking, that all of us can build extraordinarily hard-to-kill organisations.
R1480; Cape Town. Ryan Stramrood. From being a corporate couch potato in his thirties ten years ago, Ryan Stramrood has already completed 81 Robben Island-to-mainland crossings, swam solo across the notorious English Channel, swam the first official “Ice Mile” in -1°C water in Antarctica, completed the world’s first swim around the southernmost tip of South America – Cape Horn – and was the first South African male to swim from Europe to Africa across the Gibraltar Strait. Ryan’s next challenge? Teaching you, grit.
R1480. Cape Town. Gabriel Luna-Ostaseski. In the penultimate learning experience for 2018, Heavy Chef is proud to host a true ‘master of scale’, San Francisco-native, Gabriel Luna-Ostaseski, who will be spending a week in Cape Town over December to share the secrets of super-growth scaling. Gabe will share the secrets that he used while working with Uber, Thumbtack and Modernize in order to truly grow your company.
