We’re kicking off the year with a killer lineup of futurists, disrupters and trends forecasters. Bronwyn Williams and Dion Chang from Flux Trends are the most highly regarded commentators on futurism in South Africa. They will be joined by Ian Russell for a firecracker opening event in 2019. This event will be fun, insightful and critical to get moving with a clear lens on what’s around the corner over the next 12 months.
At the end of the three presentations, a Q&A will be facilitated by world-renowned Leadership consultant Mike Perk.
About The Speakers
Dion Chang is a strategic thinker, keynote speaker, a walking ideas bank and professional cage rattler. He is one of South Africa’s most respected trend analysts and founder of Flux Trends, which takes the unique view of “trends as business strategy”.
He is passionate about assisting companies embrace change and embedding a culture of innovation into corporate operating systems. As a result, he is used as a management consultant for businesses facing disruption and challenged with adapting to a new world order.
He lectures Foresight and Innovation Implementation modules for executives and senior management at various business schools, including GIBS, UCT’s Graduate School of Business and Duke CE. He has devised and hosted three trend conferences and published three trend books.
Bronwyn Williams is a business trends analyst and futurist with Flux Trends. She has also run several of her own businesses alongside her husband, in industries as diverse as lingerie, investment property and retail interior design.
In addition to reading #allthebooks, her educational credentials reflect her wide range of interests in “everything” including: theology, marketing, business management, fintech, economics, and foresight. She is currently enrolled in the University of Stellenbosch’s postgraduate Futures Studies Programme.
Today, her work looks at the intersection of technological and socio-economic trends; and how these sometimes conflicting twin forces impact on businesses, both today and far into the future.
Ian Russell is the CEO of Disrupting Consultancy Pty, a boutique advisory company focused on the power of positive disruption. Ian’s last corporate role was as CEO of BCX, Africa’s largest technology company, with a turnover of around $2bn and a workforce numbering 10,000 employees. During his time at BCX, Ian embarked on an ambitious programme to re-invent the business as a major digital, cloud and software services provider.
Ian is perhaps best known for joining the troubled, virtually bankrupt South African telecommunications company, Telkom, in 2014 and being a key part of its inspirational turnaround, leading change in all areas of its operations and overseeing radical overhauls to its business, people and culture. Ian now divides his time between speaking, writing, and advising large corporates on change and strategic responses to market place disruption.
