Who Is Our Heavy Chef?

Brian Gadisi is the co-founder of Arion Power, a pioneering start-up that delivers innovative energy solutions to address power supply challenges. What began as a university project at the University of Cape Town evolved into a full-fledged business that designs, manufactures, and sells lithium iron phosphate energy storage systems for homes, businesses, and industrial operations. Shaped by his academic background in Economics, Finance, Applied Statistics, and Entrepreneurship, Brian has combined analytical rigor with a passion for sustainable innovation. Under his leadership, Arion Power has pushed the boundaries of ICT and green energy in the Pan-African context. His work has earned widespread recognition, including being named Western Cape Entrepreneur of the Year and Youth-Owned Business Award winner at the Western Cape Entrepreneurship Recognition Awards in 2021. In 2024, Arion Power was honoured at the Presidential MSME and Cooperatives Awards, winning both MSME of the Year and Youth-Led MSME of the Year. Earlier in his journey, Brian was also awarded the top overall business prize at the UCT Genesis Project in 2020. Brian’s thought leadership and impact have been recognised beyond awards. He has been featured on CNBC Africa as a rising “Captain of Industry,” highlighting Arion Power’s growth and its selection for the Innovator Trust incubation programme. He has also been profiled by Freedom Pioneers of Africa for building a uniquely African solution to infrastructure challenges.
