About This Recipe

Corporate social investment (CSI) can easily be regarded as the preserve of the big and resource-rich corporate world. Cathy Duff, director at Trialogue, holds a different view and in this recipe she shares her conviction that all businesses can create social impact. In fact, she says, small businesses often have social impact baked into their business models and ethos already.

In this recipe she discusses why shared value is the foundation for successful partnerships between large and small businesses, how to get your business-support proposal noticed, and just why ESG is something all entrepreneurs engage with.

Cathy also unpacks concepts such as shared value, CSI and integrated thinking, and clarifies what makes a good corporate citizen.

What You'll Learn

What is social impact? Can CSI be more than sponsorships and donations? How is ESG relevant to startups? So many questions but fortunately, in this recipe, also so many answers.

You will learn what CSI is and is not, and how your small business can be of service and value to a corporate company. You will also learn what support you can expect from a company’s enterprise development (ED) fund, and what homework is necessary before you approach a big company.

The recipe furthermore provides insights about the link between purpose and social impact, unpacks what ESG means for entrepreneurs and identifies the economic sectors that offer opportunities for startups.
