About This Recipe

Funding. Marketing and sales skills. Financial management know-how. These are generally regarded as the minimum requirements for entrepreneurial success. However, according to Dr Jabulile Msimango-Galawe, the secret sauce is mentoring and/or coaching.

Based on her PhD in entrepreneurship and the practical experience of running a business (and failing at a previous venture), she speaks from a deep well of knowledge, enriched by passion and empathy for business owners.

In this recipe she reveals the role coaches and mentors play in her life, unpacks the process of finding the right coach (it’s not unlike dating!) and explains why mentoring often precedes coaching in a person’s personal and professional development. Dr J also shares some of the operational lessons she has learned on her business-ownership journey.
