Who Is Our Heavy Chef?

Faye Kabali-Kagwa is a South African-Ugandan cultural curator, youth arts advocate, and multi-disciplinary creative practitioner based in Cape Town. She creates innovative, accessible spaces that connect audiences to African cultures and creativity, helping brands and projects engage meaningfully with their communities. With over a decade of experience amplifying youth voices and curating participatory cultural experiences, Fayeā€™s work shows how to capture attention, build loyalty, and foster culturally resonant engagement. Her experiments put a creative twist on ordinary platforms, including transforming public areas into interactive exhibitions. Her contributions to cultural engagement have been recognised with the 2024 Artfluence Youth Arts Activist Human Rights Award, ISPA Global Fellowship (2023ā€“24), Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans (2021), and Salzburg Global Seminar Cultural Innovator Fellowship (2019).
