Amanda Du-Pont
Brand Strategy

In this recipe Amanda du-Pont, Swazi-born actress, model, television host and founder of lelive skincare, shares insights on creating her iconic new brand and thriving as a woman entrepreneur.

Tuck In

Swazi-born Amanda du-Pont first made her mark in South Africa as an actress, model and television host. Comedy-drama and soap operas on the SABC channels and leading roles in two feature films and a Netflix thriller series, has turned Amanda into a proper local celebrity.

Acting, however, is not her only passion. Having dabbled in selling hair products and clothes, the Covid lockdown in 2020 gave her and her team the space to conceive and birth lelive - the skincare range Amanda wished she had had as a teenager and young adult struggling with acne-prone skin.

About This Recipe

You can’t swipe four million social media followers to pay your mortgage, but you can turn this blessing of people who like and trust you into a business by trusting them in turn. This is just one of the insights Amanda du-Pont shares in this recipe.

From asking her followers what their perfect skincare products would look and feel like, and do, to seeing lelive products next to beauty heavyweights like La Mer on shelves, Amanda’s entrepreneurial journey has been tough and rewarding in equal measure.

She generously shares lessons and insights with all the passion and enthusiasm a woman entrepreneur needs to keep going.

What You'll Learn

With complete honesty, Amanda talks about sexual harrassment in the business world. Far from being a victim, she urges women to never compromise themselves and to focus on empowering other women so that the business arena can become merit based sooner rather than later.

She discusses the hustle to generate internal funding for your business in order to delay having to raise funding from external sources, and stresses the importance of growing your team so that jobs can be done by people who are excellent at them.

The golden thread that runs through this recipe is the importance of engaging with people. Listen to and understand the market before starting out, and continuously get feedback from existing and potential customers as the business grows.
